Ping River and Blog Review
Aug 28th, 2007 by Lillian
The other day I was at the Wawee Coffee near the river and I took this picture. I said to my friend, it is a pity the water is always dirty AND that there isn’t a nice promenade to walk along the river. If there was, I could walk from my house to the coffee shop. Wouldn’t that be something for Chiang Mai?! Sure, it would get flooded every year but to fix it would create jobs.<sigh> haha
My blog got its first review
Go and read it at Adams Blog here. Thanx Adam !!!

Yes I share your wish for a clean Ping River. And wawee! You brought back memories for me here in smoggy Beijing, missing Southeast Asia, hot spicy food… and Wawee coffee
Hi Lillian,
I enjoy reading your blog for quite sometime. It’s interesting coz so many times you see/think different from the way that Thai people do. Talking about Ping river, as I can recall (I lived in CM from 1984 to 2000), it’s always like that, but it doesn’t mean the water is polluted or anything (if i’m not wrong), anyway i’m not so sure about it now..(havent’ been to CM for a few years).
I agree that it would be great if the city spend more money on parks, bike trails, etc..but as you might know, there’re lot of corruptions in local governement too…just hope for the best that the new (female) mayor would do something different.
Hi Jacky and Nansa, the river is dirty because of dirt, not polluted.. at least not this part of the river
Thanx for dropping by!
