It's so stinky especially in summer time, probably from the rancidity of the oil they use. Look at the bright side, you can buy super fresh produces as much as you want (even in TescoLotus), but who knows how long vegetables, meats..etc..have been on the shelves in supermarkets here in the U.S. Lilian,

I was doing some research on a vacation in Asia, then recalled my last trip to Thailand and it's air quality. As a result, I'm here at your page. A Fortune 200 computer company sent me there to help the manufacturing of a new computer product. Pattaya was the destination. This was my first time in Asia and after leaving the doors of BKK Airport I could taste the air immediately. I'm not sure that it smelled very bad, but I could taste every chemical byproduct in the air. I've been in Manhattan and Los Angeles during summer and they don't compare. Actually, Pattaya was much worse then Bangkok as there are possibly more factories there. People were wearing surgical masks on the highway. My initial thought was that they were taking precautions as not to get the Bird/Avian Flu. On the ride back to BKK I realized it was simply air pollution. Thats why my cab driver had the windows rolled up in what I considered perfect weather (no AC required). I'm sure whatever we can't manufacture in the US due to EPA regulations, we simply send over to Thailand. Our problem becomes someone else's problem. Thailand is a beautiful place.
