Fresh Bread in Chiang Mai
Sep 11th, 2007 by Lillian
I was at Carrefour yesterday. A grocery shop I don’t usually shop in because its on the other side of town. But I was pleasantly surprised. It doesn’t ’smell bad’ like Lotus. (Don’t laugh, I really have a problem with stale air.) And it has a great fresh vegetable and bakery section! I bought a whole wheat bread.. hmmmm soooooo yummy. So all you backpackers and tourists, business people and what not who think you have to give up eating good fresh bread in Thailand, take heart, there is GREAT bread available in Chiang Mai. Look at this blog which also sells great bread !

Too bad we don’t have Carrefour yet in Manila…
I always go shopping in their stores in Belgium.
Thank you for the link to Mon.
I have been struggling recently to find decent bread. The more you pay for it doesn’t mean it’s any better and the shelves of Rimping are often full of bread that fails to excite my taste buds.
However I have found their own brand wholemeal oval (19bht & the cheapest) is my 1st choice of their selection. However, it has meant that I have needed to purchase a larger (longer) toaster ( another adventure story!!).
Carrefour have indeed the nicer selection.
We buy great bread at TOPS at Airport Plaza. They even slice it for you!
Thanx for the tip Pat, I haven’t been to Tops for a while, will have to check it out ! Nice to know the face behind a comment:-)
