Yes we did go to the Night Safari. We didn’t do it on the same day as the Singapore Zoo. We arrived at 7.30 p.m. just when it opened. There weren’t as many people are expected. We ate and made our way in. Most people took the tram. The staff recommended that we take it but we wanted to walk and take our time. There were a couple of other families walking as well… interestingly enough Germans and Aussies…ANYWAY it was totally fun. It had rained the whole day and so it was actually cool in the zoo. We walked all the trails, the Fishing Cat Trail, the Leopard Trail with the Mangrove Walk and the forest Giants trail. This is a netted area where they have the largest bats in the world . I didn’t go in there.. I’m not a big fan of bats and thought it might be better to leave this out. BUT I was really brave and went into another netted area where they have flying squirels. I didn’t want to go in but my son came and got me and said he would protect me ( he’s 9 ) so he held my hand and in I went. We got to see a squirrel fly it was GREAT. They open up and look like a kite. Fantastic.
Later we met one of the staff who had a baby Burmese python on her hand. The snake was small and my family challenged me to touch it. So, for the first time in my life I touched a snake with my bare hands. NOT with the intent to kill it but to touch it. And I didn’t die. Maybe I’ll have overcome my fear of snakes abit…. who knows.
Some of the trails are quite dark and I was a bit worried we’d meet that little snakes mother but we didn’t.
The animals were quite well lit and we saw all of them. I’m surprised they weren’t put off by the light…
The kids enjoyed the suspension bridge and had great fun spotting animals which weren’t there. We had great fun watching people stare at t- Rex we saw in the distance lol.
Unfortunately we missed the animal show. We arrived at 8.55 p.m. and were told it was full. I got a bit upset and said it would have been nice to be informed that there was limited seats. We could have stayed and watched the 10 p.m. show but our youngest was to tired and we were tired of carrying him around !
We really really enjoyed the night safari. Its just great to spend time as a family and see some of Gods creation. The animals are kept well and the jungle noises made us miss Thailand and look forward to coming back.
