About two weeks ago I got an email from a friend who stayed in Chiang Mai for 3 months and this is what he wrote.It fill me with hope if we ever have to go back to Switzerland, there just might be a way for me to survive haha
”I found a great place here in Bern where I feel like in Thailand. I just have to go to A-Chau Trading Company on a Saturday afternoon. The store in the Liebefeld sells Asian food and is basically crowded with Thais. Two weeks ago I was the only ‘farang’ among about 20 Thai, everyone was speaking Thai. They even called me ‘farang’, haha. But then suddenly the mobile phone of a woman rung, she answered in ‘Bärndütsch’, and I can tell you, she has a better ‘Bärndütsch’ then I have!
The store is like a paradise! I find everything I need for my Thai cooking, they even have Beerlao!. Last weekend I had Som Tam, Tom Yam Kung and steamed fish with lime and chili, I even get the same fish I had in Chiang Mai. I also make Nam Phrik, Daeng e-mailed me the recipe!”
