I think I could almost win a million dollars because of all the things I had to do while my husband was travelling.
I’d be the Winner of Amazing Race :
*finding garages to change and fix tires, finding a garage for 4 wheel drive, calling a tow company to fix the truck ( in thai of course) finding the Mac shop. and the simple fact of putting the oh so heavy computer in the car !!! (Used my sons scateboard.. very helpful ![]()
* Got the internet to work with the help of Guy
He walked me through all the steps on the phone.
* I removed a broken hose in the bathroom , cut all water supply to the house, unscrewed a hose which had burst and caped the pipe !
* Fixing 2 lights in the house ( everytime you touch the lights the whole thing almost falls down.. if you’re not careful the ceiling might fall down.
* Getting 3 kids dressed , feed 3 times a day, entertained, comforted, given medical care , getting them off to school ( ok.. that’s not so unusual but hey.. I still had to do it !!)
* I went to the ER of the hospital and got Tanja the right treatment of her dog bite. Watched her got poked by a needle 7 times… both of us cried…..
* Arranged for a new gardener to do our garden.. just too much to do alone ! He was rude and said.. Farang are just don’t like doing their garden alone. I know for a fact that he does 4 of our neighbours gardens.. who ofcourse .. are thai !!
* Phoned for Pest Control to spray our house. The ants are EVERYWHERE and I don’t give a shit about envirmental issues.. I got my house sprayed with chemicals from top to bottom. For now we are ant free !!!!
Fear Factor :
* killing the snake in the garden
* being alone with 3 kids during very very strong winds with the neighbors window banging all the time….
* Being in the emergency room with my daughter…. talk about fear factor.
* Being home alone without a car and no neighbors around who could help. Ofcourse all out of town. No taxi service available but I have seen a few around town.
There is one other person who could possibly beat me.. Jenny, who actually spent time IN hospital while her husband was gone, with a sick child and then SHE got sick ! Her son had to stay with friends and go to school.
She would win gold.. I’m happy with silver thank you very much
Dear Lillian,
Reading your diary was a bit like visiting you and sitting down for a chat. Thanks a lot for sharing! The poem is very sad and beautiful.

Dear Lillian
In between 2 meetings I quickly speed-read your diary. Wish we could go and have lunch in the Black Canyon together… Thanks for writing.
HOpe to have more time soon again to communicate with you. You’re still often on my / our minds!

I just read your blog of the 22.05.05 – really sounds like you’ve got a new job! … personal home and family manager …one does say it is very good preparation for your futur professional life!! ..
tell your gardener that he is right – what you don’t sow – you don’t reap – the law of the harvest – and his will be a big harvest if he sows a lot! … as for the farangs … many come to sow other seeds!

Sa-wa-dee-ka Lillian! I must say that I reallenjoyewhich i d reading about you and all your experiences that you have encountered since your move to Thailand. I was last there Christmas of 1995 in which I stayed in Bangkok for 3 days, Magasaw for about an hour traveling to Massot to stay for almost two weeks with family. And after leaving Massot to head home for the states, we (me, my mother, and father), had to stop in Phuket as well. My mother is originally from Chang Mai, but later traveled to the states in 1981. I always wondered what it was like up in Chang Mai and now that I have read about your troubles in which you bravely have delt with, I now believe that my curiousities reguarding Chang Mai have been put on hold. LOL!
In conclusion to me rambling on about literally nothing to maybe you I just wanted to say I look forward to later reading more about you and that beautiful country Thailand. Take care and God Bless you and your family. Sincerely, Anjala.
thanks for writing Anjala. Great to hear from you !! Hope you drop in again and enjoy reading
