From Kyrgyzstan to Chiang Mai…
Jan 10th, 2008 by Lillian
We get quite alot of guests here in Chiang Mai. My parents were here at Christmas time which was very nice. We met a swiss couple who are travelling Asia by bicycle. Now someone from Kyrgyzstan is here.( Actually he’s swiss just lives there.) Kyrgyzstan!?! Huh? Yes.. you know where that is? Well, I didn’t but thats what maps are for! He showed us photos and guess what? The sky is BLUE. Yesterday he said, you know, I can never see the blue sky here in Chiang Mai, its so hazy. Yes, it is. Its called smog we replied with an evil smile. After seeing those photos I’ve added another place on my list of countries I would like to visit. Why? Simply because of the blue sky!!

ich kann mir nicht vorstellen wie das ist, keinen blauben Himmel zu sehen, stell dir vor, heute zwitschern die Vögel, als ob der Frühling schon vor der Tür stehen würde!
Kyrgyzstan eh? I know the country but this is the first time I’ve heard of anyone going there.
Nice blog!
Hi Lillian,
I am Cholpon, a girl from Kyrgyzstan. Was nicely surprised to find this blog and a passage about my country.
It is so true - the sky is really blue back home. I am not saying it just because it is my home ;).
I am in Bangkok now and it was somewhat shocking not being able to see the stars at night as at home the stars are very close you can count them.
If you decide to go to KG (Kyrgyzstan) let me know, would be happy to help you with anything I can.
Cheers,
Cholpon
