The photos I wrote about yesterday are only one side of Burma. The fighting against ethnic minority groups continues. There are over one million internally displaced people inside Burma, and approximately one million in refugee camps along the Thai/Burma boarder. The Regimes army extends their control over the ethnic minorities by building roads and camps in ethnic homelands, forcing people to relocate or flee into the jungle. There is documented forced labor and the use of rape as a weapon. The Regimes army lays landmines to keep villagers from returning home and supporting the resistance. They aim to dominate the population, assimilate them and exploit them. They do this directly through military attacks, selective cease-fire agreements, and the use of proxy ethnic forces allied with the Regime. more here

Nice post. Sadly the countries that could do most to help can’t be bothered and prefer to make money from the situation instead (Thailand, China, Japan, and to a lesser extent Singapore and France).
