My Thailand Diary

Flower, a 11 year old girl with swiss parents but who lived in America before coming to Thailand about 7 years ago, was talking to a 28 year old Swiss guy. Flower speaks swissgerman and the 29 year old italian. Together they spoke english up to this point in the conversation..

Flower: ”wieso chasch du nid schwyzerdütsch du bisch doch schwyzer” (why don’t you speak Swissgerman you are swiss)

28yrold: ”chum auso” with a big grin and Italian accent… (come on)

Flower: ” das isch bloed ig glaub dir nid das du schwyzer bisch” (Thats dumb, I don’t believe you are swiss)

” What did you say?” Then the guy explained he’s from the Italian speaking part of Switzerland.(speaks Italian, not Swissgerman..)

”Ah” Flower answered, ” so you’re from the Thai speaking part of Switzerland”.

We laughed soo much.

btw, its very common for us Swiss to speak english together. Something we don’t really think about but still interesting for all those mono-language people
