Burma, Storm and rice prices
May 6th, 2008 by Lillian
Storm over Burma caused havoc. At least 10 000 people killed. Burma is actually asking for international aid! ( hear hear) Will the people in the villages really any of the help or will all the money go to the Army generals to replant their gardens?
In the south of Thailand people are being killed daily by insurgents. Its dangerous, teachers, doctors and nurses don’t want to go and work their. Whats happening is terrible. Rice prices have gone up and is effecting the refugees from Burma. As if they didn’t have it hard enough… I read here
Poorest people suffer
“The rice price is killing us,” said Jack Dunford, head of the Thailand Burma Border Consortium (TBBC) of agencies that provide food, shelter and other aid to more than 140,000 refugees along the border with Thailand.
The agency has appealed to its donors for more funds, but is seriously considering reducing the rations it currently provides the refugees. “This is a very vulnerable group of people,” Dunford said. “We may have to cut our support to them.”
Its so sad. What can I do? Keep giving to those in need, keep being generous. I’m just a very very lucky woman to be able to live the life I live and believe me, I don’t take it for granted !

Burma is actually asking for international aid!
