I’ve just started reading the Third Culture Kids by David C. Pollak and Ruth E. Van Reken . Amazon has the book.
So far I skipped a lengthy foreword, Acknowledgments , Introduction and the chapter A Beginning Word by Ruth E. Van Reken.
Not really a good sign when you skip the first 10 pages.. oh well..

Hello – how did you like the “Junglekind” book!
I’m just reading it!

Hi there, cool site:) I found the book to be a great overview, although I disagree with some aspects of how “TCK’s” are defined. But nevertheless, I think most people don’t know a thing about TCK’s, including TCK’s themselves, so it’s a great starting point!
Sorry for the double comment, but I just saw some other posts of yours about TCKs. I agree with your take on things. I think TCK’s get their identities from the environments they live in and that it’s not necessarily an automatic process that bestows a “TCK identity”–though international schools have a way of doing that. Still, so many feel lost and “identity-less” until they are told, “hey, you are a TCK.”
I am going to buy this to understand my mother who always felt like an exile in America.
