Hunger in Asia
Oct 27th, 2005 by Lillian
In yesterdays Bangkok Post I read an article.
IN Asia, one child dies every 11 seconds due to hunger related causes. Every 11 seconds!!!!
That is the equivalent of 10 tsunamis every year.
Asia is still home to more hungry people than the rest of the world combined. This really surprises me, I thought it was Africa! Over half a billion people in the region are chronically undernourished; 17 % of children in Asia regularly go to bed hungry.
Progress is better than any place else in the world but there is still much work to be done.
Some of the villages I’ve seen confirm this. Some people don’t have enough money for two meals a day.
This is very disturbing and makes me question my life style and wonder if I am really doing all I can to help ease peoples suffering.

That’s shocking!!! And at the same time I’m worrying because I’m overweight and eat too much.
If you’re looking for something to do, UN’s World Food Programme is organizing walks all over the world (including in Thailand) on 21 May in an effort to raise funds & awareness for child hunger. Maybe get the family involved, it’s only 1 morning & you’d be walking with people in over 70 countries. Check it out! http://www.fighthunger.org
The article is disurbing.

Hi. As the author of the Sarasonteh, the blog The Forgotten One linked to above, I just want you to know I’m not The Forgotten One (I’m “gone but not forgotten”, perhaps?), nor do I know him or her.
confusing:-/ but I always enjoy reading a new blog
