what should I give?

We are invited to a wedding which isn’t really a wedding but its like a wedding. Mr. D is ‘marrying’ a thai lady. He wants to live with her but to be able to do that, the parents want him to marry her. The wedding is nothing legal but apparently it makes it acceptable for the parents. I have never met his girlfriend but we are invited… We’ve talked to Mr. D a couple of times but I’m still really surprised that we are invited!
I asked Mr. D what sort of a gift he would like and he said, well, just bring yourselves and your kids. I then phoned my thai friend what would be suitable. Her first questions how close are you. That was easy. Not close. So money would be suitable. Then we chatted abit and before we hung up I asked her how much we should give. Apparently 1000 Baht is appropriate. Thank God for my friend Khun J. who can advise me. I’d have NO idea….
Well, the party should be fun. Wonder how many people will be there and if the family has ever been exposed to farangs before. Should be interesting so see how they relate to a blond farang family. Will tell you all about it.

Or you could give a little present for their house, since they’ll be living together… Just an idea:) Hope you have a good time!
