					<description>my experience with fireworks in my pre-Thailand life (i.e. in mid-Atlantic north america) was always that the fireworks were set off in a cleared-away area, not right next to the audience, in order to risk harming as few people as possible, and the local fire department always had representatives on standby right there in case of a problem.

at the loy krathong party we attended on wednesday night, they were launching fireworks from the party itself, with little kids running around, and no fire department people anywhere. i shudder just thinking of the danger.

the fireworks sure looked beautiful, though. TIT! (this is thailand!)</description>
