Bikes, potholes and dogs
Jan 7th, 2006 by Lillian
Yesterday I took girl11 and boy9 to visit some friends by bike. I sort of have cycling as something relaxing in my mind. But yesterday was NOT relaxing. Fun, yes but not relaxing. The traffic here is ‘a little’ chaotic. Some motorbikes pass you at neck breaking speeds. The roads here aren’t all nice and clean like in Europe and at most places its hard to see where side of the road begins and where it ends. So while I rode my bike I had to look out for traffic, stones, potholes and other things like food on the road. AND I had to keep sure my two kids kept up with me. They wanted me to go ahead, mainly to warn them of stray dogs. I hate stray dogs. They are dangerous. But yesterday we were lucky. The ones we saw didn’t even bark !
One way to our friends took us 20 min. We had a loooong break and headed back home. The kids were pretty exhausted. Even though its cold season , it can still be quite hot in the sun. And they aren’t used to riding their bikes in such conditions. Well done kids! We will do it again soon
The first place we stopped was here. A view of the river, nice and low at the moment.

Yeah, well, no matter where you are in Thailand, riding a bike is like a kind of extreme sport, even though you’re actully riding on the road. :p
