Chiang Mai Zoo pandas are mating

On Bangkok Post front page today…. Chiang Mai Zoo Celebrity Courtship. Elation as giant pandas mate for the first time.
Maybe I’m missing something but why is this in the front page of a, no not local newspaper but a national newspaper? Great, yes the Chiang Mai people are very happy. Because they are mating? no.. because of all the people who will come and see the hopefully pregnant panda bear during Chinese New Year.
So… come to Chiang Mai NOW if you want to see Pandas mating.

Because they’re cute? Because we have it up to the ears with politics and disaster? Whatever, the thought of copulating pandas makes me smile! Love is in the air …

I love pandas!

But it does seem as if anytime there’s anything going on with pandas somewhere in the world it’s big news.
