Getting things fixed…

…doesn’t always go as smoothly as you expect. I had to get the window wipers of my car changed. They were falling apart. So, after being at immigration to finally pick up that proof of residence, I stopped at a petrol station that didn’t have a mini mart but that had a little ”Oil and other boring stuff” shop. I thought it would be easy, go in, buy new wipers, get them changed and voila.
hmmmm I drove in and asked the workers if they could change it for me. They all smiled at me (because I’m a farang woman or because the wipers were such a disgrace I don’t know). Anyway 3 guys looked at the wipers, smiled, said wait a minute. They got in a car and drove away ! So after filling the petrol tank I parked my car near the garage and waited. And waited and waited. A woman came over, smiled and said.. again. ”roo-sa-kru” (just a minute.) Well… the clock was ticking and I had to be home to prepare some lunch for my kids. So, I told her I had to go and drove off. Ofcourse it rained when I had to drive to school to pick up the kids and the whole window wiper was missing. Now how stupid is that? Where did the workers go? Out for lunch? Did they go and buy wipers at Carrefour?? I almost stared crying. 40 min of driving in the rain without window wipers isn’t only really difficult, its dangerous.
I got home safely and my lovely husband brought some new wipers home in the evening and changed them for me. Why didn’t I ask him to do it for me before?
(I’m a big big girl in a big big world… lol)

Hi there!
I am really interested in talking to you as we are possibly looking at moving to Thailand. We are from the United States and while I look forward to the adventure, it also scares me a little. (okay, a lot). I found your site on the internet and have really enjoyed reading it. You have a great sense of humor. Doesn’t it help to write about things? I mean, when you write it down, somehow it stops it from going round and round in your head and it helps the frustrations. At least that is how it is for me.
Anyway, I would love to hear from you. Thanks for responding!
Sincerely,
Kimberly

Driving with out wipers is not good. Glad you made it safely back home. Did you ever find out where those guys went?
Lawdy! Glad that you got home safe! Please, don’t go around driving in the rain without wipers again!
Autofahren ohne Scheibenwischer; hei, das ist ja fast wie wenn ich ohne Brille fahren würde (btw. -4.5,-4.5 Dioptrien wer was damit anfangen kann…) :-).
Jemand hat mir mal den Tip gegeben, in diesem Fall die Scheibe mit Zitronensaft einzureiben, oder mit einem Apfel oder so - ob das wirklich funktioniert?!
