Mandy no, there is NO flood in Chiang Mai.
Filterbank. I can't tell you what the future will bring... flood, birdflu, dengue fever, plane crash or earthquakes... who knows.

Hi Lillian, I knew someone who got dengue fever in Singapore. And if I remember right we were told that the Aedes mosiquito, which is the carrier, is a day biter. So dawn and dusk protection might not be enough. Maybe you should check.

Sarah, yes they are day biters.. its just that at dawn and dusk there are more mosquitoes so you are more likely to get biten... There are also places in Chiang Mai which seem to have a higher reoccurrence of DF...

Adam... Yes, July is rainy season in the north. In other years it has flooded in July in various places in Thailand, including Chiang Mai. I don't think it should effect tourists very much. Except for some delayed trains or buses. About mosquitoes read the post! Avoid dusk and dawn, wear long clothes ALL THE TIME, use mosquitoe repellent and depending where you are sleep under a mosquitoe net.
