What should I answer when a Thai friend asks me what Swiss people are like? My first thoughts were tight and ridged, very direct, well educated (really, a Swiss person knows everything…)
But they are also helpful, love shopping and spending time with friends.
Swiss are hard workers, tough and love being independent.Â
Unfortunately they often refuse to believe they are doing well. And will use statistics to prove this to you. This can be you finances, your family, your emotions or your job situation ( Alot of people suffer from depression, go figure…)
Swiss people are very diverse.
The German- speakers are considered slow and the big worriers.
The French-speakers are proud they are not German-speakers and have big dreams and great plans.
The Italian-speakers are probably the ones who dream and worry the least.
When Swiss people meet overseas, or even just in neighbouring country they will walk past their fellow country man and pretend they didn’t see him.
Are Swiss people kind? I would say yes. Everywhere you go you greet each other. If you need help getting direction for example they are more than happy to give it to you.
Swiss may be shy and withdrawn at first but I have found they make some of the best loyal friends !
Give the Swiss a chance. They really aren’t all only about chocolate and clocks ! (even though the chocolate is the best in the world !!!)

Haha we Thais not only do that, we also pretend we weren’t Thai just to eavesdrop on what they are talking about. Hehe

I’m moving to Switzerland soon (Geneva) and I wanted to know what the kids there were like. Are they the stereotypical blond, serious farming people with the pigtails and stuff, or are they far more advanced and cooler than the typical American teen? If you could tell me more about the people, the diversity, and the cities?
