Insurgents in the south of Thailand
Jun 21st, 2006 by Lillian
On the 15 of of June, militants set of 50 bombs in the southern provinces of Yala, Pattani and Narathiwat. Yes fifty !! At least 3 were killed and many state workers and civilians injured. 29 happened simultaneously. Apparently, 15th June is the insurgent’s ‘free Pattani state’ anniversary. Thailand just celebrated the Kings 60 years rule. Royalties from all over the world visited and honoured the King. Its like the minute the celebrations were over, this act of violence. ( wouldn’t really be wrong to call it terrorism, would it?)
My heart goes out to all the civilians who are suffering. Its always the civilians, isn’t it? Innocent children who can’t go to school, parents who can’t work because of the fear and the danger of being attacked. Pray for peace in the south of Thailand….and lets hope the government can get some control over the whole situtation.

*sighs* It seems the situation in the South’s getting out of hand. What’s the government doing about it? Do we even have a proper functioning government now?
