Schools close in south of Thailand
Nov 27th, 2006 by Lillian
This is very alarming news. In Pattani province 322 schools will be closed indefinitly. Bangkok Post writes that the director of a community school was shot, schools have been burnt down. The situation is so bad, that its dangerous for teachers and students. The separatist groups or insurgents, as they are called, are believed to be planning more bomb attacks.
I’m not talking about a country far far away… this is Thailand ! The country I live in !! My heart does go out to all the families who are effected. Teachers and pupils alike, who live in a war like situation, in a country, that is otherwise a peaceful.
