I feel so sorry to read this letter, but it is the truth. Some Thai doctors are just not educated enough to help people. Sorry to say it so hard, but this is not the first time that I heard from doctors like this.
But my question is, how we can be sure that the next doctor is better ?

Best wishes to your son and I hope he will be o.k. soon.

Sorry to hear about that. I wish I could say I am surprised to read this, but I'm not. My daughter has very high fever at the moment, started a few hours ago. If it gets worse I guess we'll have to make the trip to see a doctor so be facing the same nonsense and the usual battle against needless antibiotics.

Joe: assume the next doctor won't be better, it's usually the case. Sadly here it's a case of the doc is right - end of story.

Unfortunately I have found that most Thai doctors don't have a good idea of the side affects or interactions of the drugs they prescribe. Nor do they have a good idea of how it should be administered (with meals, before meals, etc.) Anything they prescribe you should look up on the net before using.

Don't even talk to me about Thai doctors. Even the "top doctors" in Bangkok are still assholes.

See my blog. You'll understand.

re the antibiotics, i've come to the conclusion that it is like a mandatory medicine that all pediatricians have to prescribe to all sick kids ; just like when we, adults visit our doctors , they have to give us paraceptamols even when we are not in pain ... question the pediatricians and receive the glare of death ...
