Apr 17th, 2007 by Lillian
Ok, I’m a woman between 30 35-40. I have gone through 3 pregnancies, and now have three children and as most women my age know, keeping slim doesn’t come easy. Ok, I have some friends who just have the figure of a model and don’t have to workout or keep a diet. (secretly I hate them for that hahah) I have some thai friends who are super slim BUT they haven’t had 3 kids. The other day when I was out, a friend said.. ”oooooo you are fat”. Honest I’m NOT FAT, just well…haha .. think I’ll go into detail on this post?? no way….In this culture, its not rude to say that to someone but hey, when it comes to things like this, inspite of living most of my life in Asia, I’m very very swiss…. So.. again I surfed the net.. how to lose weight. Have you noticed that its sooo easy to lose weight online.. you have the Idiots Diet, 10 Diets Rules that work, Lose weight Diet free, Eat more and lose weight ARRRRRGGGGHHHH such bu****it. The ONLY way is to eat less and move more. Why is that sooooo hard?

Eat less junk food, eat less fat, and like you say - move more. Exercise can be addictive you know. Alternatively don’t worry about the extra pounds and enjoy life, I’m sure you look great as you are!
Thats easy for Max to say….. With food on every corner here & so much sugar in even the sour dishes, its hard not to put on the weight, just looking at it! Personally I think those canom shops at the exit of Tesco’s and 7-11 & Bake’nBite & the Roti stands & & & & & &…… should be closed down and replaced with errmmm (what haven’t we got thats already been over done?) Holland & Barret shops, now there’s a thought
Ah-ha, Ally, I’m here in Thailand too and know what you mean, even the pizzas come sweetened. However my current smugness in the weight loss department, as readers of my blog know, is because I’ve managed to shed several stone in the last two years. Between Christmas and now I’ve managed to lose 1 stone in weight through eating less in general, cutting out things like the dreaded roti (which I have a weakness for) and doing regular exercise. It does work!!
Sadly I broke a tendon in my foot about a month ago so exercise has got out the window recently.
What I always hated about SE Asia cuisine is the insane amount of sugar.
Take coke. I once had the very stupid to buy an innocent-looking bottle of sugar coke. To this day, I’m looking for the scientist who devised a way to add more sugar to coke than normally would dissolve in water.
The first thing I usually start to do when I’m back to “The Find Country” is cook myself, although Uncle Goh’s paradise of freespech is not that bad compared to Thailand. And, else, ride a bycicle to work, if you don’t get killed. That’s a good thing about Uncle Goh’s paradise - if a motorist screws up and hits you, there’s a good chance to get caned - which is a good incentive to behave…
