Todays FRONT PAGE of Bangkok Post. I just have to mention it here.. Paradorn Srichaphan and Miss Universe 2005 Natalie Glebova are going to get engaged. How many times have I heard that Thai women are the most beautiful in the world etc etc. And now.. shock shock, Mr. Tennisstar has chosen a farang !I know, I know… it just makes me smile. Ok, she IS Miss. Universe and very very beautiful… Congratulations !!! (she is still farang….)

Keine Ahnung. Aber Miss Universe? Not that I care. Jedenfalls, Bangkok Post hat das als Schlagzeilen. Da sieht man, wie seriös thailändische Zeitung ist. Irgendwie hört es sich so an für mich fast wie The Sun. *LOL*

Sadly, your “light” news is typical of the racist attitudes that plague this world. Hopefully, in another 100 years races and nationalities will be so mixed as to blur such distinctions.
In the noble experiment that is America, (the nation, not the evil government), people of different backgrounds mix and marry more and more and all try to respect one anothers background.
If one substituted the word “black” or “Mexican” or “white”, for farang,
as in “she is still black”, the offensive superior intent becomes obvious.
At a time when the world is is in so much trouble, it is amazing that people are still more concerned with ideas of racial superiority than with species survival.

I love this news, it’s wonderful! I’m a farang American woman who met her tii-rak in Bangkok when I lived there in 2003. We married in 2004 and had our son in 2005. We’re back in the US now for the last year and a half or so. I know a couple of farang women who married Thai men and mixed marriages are also becoming far more common in the US.
