For the mixed marriage scenario I agree it is important for the child to speak Thai, or better both languages. But the Thai education system isn't just about learning a language. I worked in a few Thai schools many years ago, in the early nineties and there's no way I would want my daughter in a Thai school.

Chris...My daughter12 can speak and understand some thai and my son10 can read it but says he doesn't understand what he is reading. Their thai isn't good as swissgerman, english are the languages we speak at home, and they have had to learn german in school. Thai isn't a priority...
Max.. I would never put my kids in thai school.. we tried k'garten for my daughter... was hard. My kids are swiss and we don't plan to stay in Thailand forever.. if one of us were thai.. it would be a diffrent story....probably put them in an international school.. or do what you are doing :-)
