Living in Chiang Mai is a choice many ‘farangs’ make. Its not as polluted and busy as Bangkok, it has quite good medical care, there are a lot of international schools to choose from to send your kids to. The weather in Chiang Mai is nice compared to some other parts of the country. We ge a lot of rain and hot season isn’t too long. Cold season gets lovely and cool!
Housing is quite cheap. You can get a nice house with garden, 4 bedrooms with 3 bathrooms and a maids room, kitchen and living room from Baht 15000 to Baht 50 000. Some of the more popular real estates are Better Homes and Chiang Mai Homes and Mitchai Property co.ltd. 302/4 Chiang Mai Lamphun Rd . T Watkate Aa Muang Chiang Mai Tel.(053) 8005678 Fax (053) 800314
Most people are totally excited when they start looking at houses. At least we were. The houses were big and cheap. But that’s what they are in a lot of cases. Cheap. Many houses don’t have a water tank and often don’t have enough water supplied, a lot of people struggle with termites in their house. Some owners don’t take care of their houses and many are badly in need of renovating. Some only have Thai kitchens and not everyone finds those easy to use. Another thing that you only find out once you have moved in is that your house leaks when it rains. In our house, it always rains in through the windows during a heavy thunderstorm. You get used to it and just put towels on the floor and clean up as the water comes in….
It’s not all as easy as it looks. But, looking at alot of houses is worth it ! There is just the house for you.
