Bern, changes its train station…
Jun 15th, 2007 by Lillian
I just read on this blog that the train station is being renovated. Great. Now, next time I go to Bern I won’t know where to get a ticket, where to catch a bus or a tram, I might even get lost..It will increase the feeling of not belonging. That sucks. Why don’t they just leave things the way they were . ( this is probably my global nomad side of me speaking…) I know its a badly needed renovation etc etc haha btw.. look at how much it costs !!!”Die Kosten des Gesamtprojekts belaufen sich gesamthaft auf 97 Mio. CHF und teilen sich im Wesentlichen folgendermassen auf die einzelnen Projekte auf etc etc ‘wow.. not bad huh?
Yes, I liked the fact that nothing changed in Bern for 600 years
Every two years we go back and everything is the same. Well, almost the same. Now there is one other change I would LOVE to see happen in Bern.. shops open till 10 pm in the evening, on Sundays and on public holiday! Just imagine…. it would almost be like Chiang Mai ![]()

This is how i feel about flying in to Suwannabhumi in a few weeks. I don’t know a dang thing!
i understand you feelings, but the fact that you’re in chiang mai has also it’s silver lining: You’ve not to use the train station at present!
if one want’s to go to “breitsch” he’s got to walk till zytglogge… and if you want to go to “bümpliz” you’ve got to walk till “hirschengraben”, so all needs much more time and people are stressed out.
did you see this pictures? http://www.bahnhofplatz08.ch/
Comparing Bern and Chiang Mai!! Come on! Throw cleanliness and efficiency into the equation and Bern’s won by a stride.
Max..true.. but shops opening times really really suck in Switzerland !
Lillian - It’s total chaos around the Bahnhof these days. They’ve ripped the tram lines up from Hirschengraben to the Kafigsturm so the 3 5 and 9 trams are running strange routes with Ersatzbuses. The Loeb Ecke is a giant pit and all the perrons there at Loeb are completely gone. Total mess! I’ve been taking pictures, I’ll try to post some.
