I own a small condo at Riverside Apartments next to Sheraton, is this the Nong Hoi area you state floods?
I’ve only stayed in Chiangmai three times, bought the condo on first visit, but never got to stay there (long story, perhaps you saw my photo on front page of Chiangmai newspapers @ January 1?, I was conned by a local realtor, but actually had a nice woman attorney in Chiangmai get my condo from him), and am now worried that this is a place that floods often. I hope to move there in October, but now I am thinking maybe I should look in higher ground in Chiangmai.
I came across your blog and really enjoy your writing.
I am in the process of creating an online magazine, InCultureParent, on everything and anything related to global parenting and traditions, multiculturalism and multilingualism. I would be really interested in having you as a blogger on the site to write about your multicultural experiences and family. Please contact me if you would like more information.
InCultureParent is an online magazine dedicated to global parent
culture and traditions. We will feature articles about raising
multicultural and multilingual children coinciding with traditions and
holidays around the world. Mainstream parenting websites are largely from the perspective of one dominant cultural framework.
InCultureParent seeks to challenge the dominant culture of parenting information and present viewpoints from around the world. Additionally, tradition and religion become more relevant
when you have children and mainstream parenting websites are also silent when it comes to this area. Websites that do cover the realm of tradition and religion tend to be religious websites which we are not. InCultureParent blends culture, language and tradition and presents research-based and anecdotal articles on everything related to these areas.
Hello,
I am doing a geography project on Thailand, so if you know anything that could help me, especially Thailand and the wider-world, that would be great
Thank you
Ellie
Hi Lillian…………………… I am retired here in Goa with my husband.
We are considering coming to live in Thailand on a retirement visa.Have been on holiday in Thailand 3 times and love it, the food is fab and the people seem far friendlier than they are here in Goa.
Thing is , we don’t know where to start looking for info.
Need to find out things like cost of living, i.e. electricity, water etc.Is it straighforward to open a bank account ?
Don’t want to live “touristy”, but need to be within reach of a hospital/medical centre, as my hubby takes medication and needs to have blood tests every 12wks or so.
I would appreciate any info you can give me, any websites that may be useful etc.
Thanks for your time Suzi
Well, beach or mountains? City or country? The costs of living really varies from city to city. I made a list a while back about costs of living in Chiang Mai with 2 websites I recommend. Istopchiangmai and retiredon550 month.com
Good luck !
I am interested in exchanging blogroll links with you as I think that the information on your site about Chiang Mai is something my readers would appreciate.
Please get back to me and let me know if you are interested.

I’m planning a round-the-world trip and Thailand was one of my expected stops. However now it looks quite hairy in Bangkok and I’m not sure if it’s going to be safe there in July when I’ll be coming through. What’s your take as an Expat? Would it be safe in Bangkok, better to stay outside the city, or should I (as a Malaysian friend advised) head for Vietnam?
Drop me an email – always happy to chat with other expat travelers Und auch, auf Deutsch (als meins braucht immer Übung).
Hello,
I got your email by reading your blog on the expat women website. By the way, nice blog…
I am writing this to ask….
I will be traveling to Bangkok next week and will stay at the Indra Regent Hotel in 120/126 Rajaprarop Road, Bangkok for a day only (I am passing through Bangkok in transit and will have 1 day there) and wanted to know if you could tell me how much (approximately) it would cost to get from the Indra Regent to Wat Po in a tuk tuk? I don’t want to be taken for a ride and don’t have any idea of the prices. If you could let me know, that would be great.
Thanks,
Kamy
