My Thailand Diary

This morning the kids and I got our bikes and rode over to the tennis courts and played for about 50 mins. The storm has past and we were very fortunate here in Chiang Mai. Besides strong winds and rain we weren’t effected!  The sun is out in all its fury and we thought it was cool enough to play at 10am. We thought wrong.. it was bloody hot ! 29 C isn’t cool ! Its cooler than 36C but its still hot. hmmmmmm. I love playing tennis but its hard to play with someone who can almost never hit the ball, another who hits it way to hard ! Excellent practice to be kind and encouraging. I think I succeeded. Everyone had fun

Yes, we are getting alot of rain! But the winds haven’t been as strong as expected even though yesterday as I was leaving Big C the wind was so strong it blew the shopping trollies towards the cars. A farang guy and I managed to stop them… That was surreal ! Check out here for more about the storm.

What level of education is expected to understand my blog…

Truth hurts.. My  ”mix language”  education really didn’t help ….

Yesterday on a trip to Phrao I saw some beautiful rice fields. The green is amazing! Its rained for the last 2 days and now everything is turning green. So beautiful! btw I haven’t been able to write my blog cos the internet is down most of the time ! (Especially when I want to write a post.) Here two photos of rice I took. The famous Thai rice. Sorry I don’t know the name of this rice, there was no sign haha

After dropping my Son7 at ‘Jungschar’ I  saw this on the road.. Whats that? Wow.. it’s a truck !!!

A truck transporting garlic.. wow.. No one is seriously hurt.  How did the driver do that ? Was he doing a U-Turn??

Ok.. the crazy farang has to stop, roll down the window and take a picture. Just look at that! The truck was probably ’slightly’ over loaded..I’m still puzzled to how you can tip a truck that size !!!

 I’ve been thinking about this question. What makes a marriage happy? Why do some couples stay together for a long time and why do others not. Reading through many quotes and things about love, I find this quote sums it up nicely

China has imposed further curbs on business and tourist visitors, just days after it stopped issuing multiple-entry visas, Hong Kong travel agents said on Friday.. Yahoo News wrote today. I know 2 people who wanted to visit friends and have been unable to do so. Ironic, isn’t it? Most countries who host the olympic games are GLAD for all tourists who come, the tourists are WELCOMED not turned away!! Strange world we live in.

My sons just love buying this when the man comes round with his ice-cream on wheels shop. You can buy the ice cream on a bun or in a little plastic cup. One flavor only, coconut. The whole bun with ice-cream costs 5 Baht (Sfr0.16)

 I’m so hot.. and wondering  if there is something else  I could do to cool down. I don’t have air-con in all room so my house isn’t air-coned. Its hard to stay cool! Here some things I have to remind myself to do !

1. Drink plenty of fluids. Take your water bottle with you everywhere you go. Drink before you sleep at night. Especially if you don’t have air-con in your room.

2. Avoid the sun.

3. Do any outside work early in the morning or late evening.

4. Keep the air flowing in your house. Use a fan to keep air moving even with the air-con on.

5. If you’re lucky to work in an office.. work long hours. Probably the coolest place you can be lol

6. Shower. Shower in the morning when you get up, after lunch, shower late afternoon and before you go to bed. Believe me, it helps !!

7. Go to a mall. The air-conditioning there is great.

8. Go swimming or have water fights with kids. It helps keep cool !!

9. Eat ice-cream or cold foods might help but I’d only put on weight and that would NOT be fun !

10. (I have to  have 10) Hot season doesn’t last forever. It will cool down soon. ( I hope )

11…. Thank God that I don’t live in a poor village without water!!!!
