Mum stuff

It rained last night. Unbelievably strong! I woke up because of the rain, but later, when my daughter tried to wake me because she is sick.. I didn’t wake up…I’ve changed! I used to hear the childen go to the bathroom and now I don’t even hear her next to my bed !Poor baby told me this morning. Shes not doing well, but I once decided not to write about it here on the blog, but if you can say a prayer for her that would be nice!

Papua New Guinea on TV

We watched a documentation on PNG last night. Two white men went into the Mek Tribe in Western Province and became part of the tribe.. in 3 months. The doc was interesting and the my kids kept asking did you grow up like that etc. My past is quite hard to explain, even to children who grow up in Thailand….Its like my life was someone elses life except I know it really well. Strange…Talk about not belonging huh?!! I grew up there and yet I don’t have one single friend Papua New Guinean friend.. sad…

Orchids in Chiang Mai

In my garden!!! There really is something beautiful too see every single day. Sometimes it just takes longer to find!  These orchids are easy to miss as you can see on the last picture!

Changes

Don’t walk in front of me, I may not follow.
Don’t walk behind me, I may not lead.
Just walk beside me and be my friend.

– Albert Camus

I guess thats why I lost some friends… because I don’t follow and because I didn’t lead.  Sad.

Our roof in Chiang Mai

These pictures explain it all, don’t they? The roof didn’t fix itself but at lunchtime we were all up on the roof and all we had to do was unblock the pipe. We had a very bonding time up on the roof !! :-)

The view from the roof.  Yes, that mountain ( or hill) is Doi Suthep.

Wow it sure does rain hard in Chiang Mai. The roof of our beautiful ”new” house leaks. I picked up the towel someone left all the floor. Annoyed, why doesn’t ANYONE put things away in this house. This morning, I see a puddle on the floor. I said to Mr.Ph, I think the roof leaks. Yes, he said, thats why the towel was on the floor last night. Hmmmm good thing I didn’t open my big mouth but the mean grin on his face showed me that my ”non verbal communication” was loud enough and he knew I had been annoyed at the towel on the floor. Sometimes its scarry when a person knows you sooo well ! As for the roof.. hmmm we’ll leave  the towel on the floor haha and hopefully the leak fixes itself  haha

Climbing in Chiang Mai

We went climbing this morning. Oh pure fun. Every one joins in, the kids belay each other and everyone has a great time.  Some of the rock was still wet but all the more fun right?  We got back home just before there was very very heavy rain. A lovely Saturday. Definately good to be back !!

Strikes in Chiang Mai?

All is peaceful in my corner of the world. I have no idea whats happening in Chiang Mai. Maybe I’ll find out something today. I’m so glad I worried for nothing about the phones and tv being shut down! Thanx for your prayers. Lets hope the leaders of this beautiful country find a good way to resolve this difficult situation.

image070.jpgI got alot of cleaning done this morning. I could have a maid. But I just don’t want one right now… ( Actually, I could have 2 maids. Yesterday I got a phone call from a 13 year old who needs a job. Well, I’d rather pay her an education than give her a job!)

So here are the two most popular methods of cleaning. Ofcourse the one and only good way to clean a house in Thailand is with this broom.  images-1.jpeg

Or  if you like things a little bit cleaner, or live in the illusion that a vacuum cleaner is better then you might go for a cheap model like I do… haha.  And then, you have to mop all the floors. Also, seeing I do everything for 4 other people besides myself, there is always a ton of clothes to wash, hang, iron and not to forget what  hate most… put everything back in the cupboard. I’m becoming very domestic. Just as well we live in a nice area and I can go for a run and work up a good sweet before attacking the dirt! Music always makes everything easier as well. Loud music. So far the neighbours haven’t said anything but the idea of interrupting a  sweaty red-faced, farang woman from her work is probably too terrifying lol!

Thats my exciting day in Chiang Mai ! This afternoon I wait for the kids to come home,go to the doctor for a check up with daughter13, which will take about 2 hours, help with homework ( please no math please please) and then.. oh and then. Once they are in bed… drink a glass of wine and finally watch the English Patient movie again. My hubby isn’t here to annoy me haha Nice..

Thailand in chaos

Till now we’ve been spared from all the chaos happening around the rest of Thailand. But tomorrow things might change. Apparently there will be a nationwide strike. Bangkok Post wrote here.

Sawit Kaewwan, secretary-general of the State Enterprise Labour Relations Confederation, said the unions will cut water and electricity supplies mainly to agencies dealing with security, such as the police, targeting provincial police offices. Telephone lines to government agencies and the houses of cabinet ministers will also be disconnected.

Yes, you read it right! Supplies mainly to agencies dealing wtih security..Yes, I’m a little worried. If you don’t hear from us or can’t call.. you will know that they shut down a lot more than we know about today. Scarry seriously.
