Traveling by train in Thailand

One of the safest and cheapest ways to travel in Thailand is by train. Now that our youngest is not a toddler anymore we will be using this form of travelling more often. We can be a bit more adventurous.. and of course .. its cheap. (Actually, the real reason we will travel by train isn’t because its cool, and you get to see the country etc etc, its because its cheaper than flying and safer than taking buses… ) Anyway. I found a really useful website : thailandbytrain. What really got me excited though was this website. seat61 It has some helpful information about trains in Thailand. AND….
I have this idea, that when we leave Thailand for good, we should travel back to Switzerland with the Trans Siberian Railway. Beijing-Moskow via Mongolia. How would we get to Beijing? How much would it cost? How long would it take? All very important questions that I will try and answer ASAP:-)
